Our current stage of development is _midway_ though our Pre-Alpha builds. For more information, please see below.

Pre-Alpha Builds ( Current )

Warning: Strictly only for internal development members ! AuroraUX is in its early stages of development but you can download a pre-alpha build at

  • KOW :: Open Source and Consulting
  • What to expect ?
    • A bootable LiveCD with full 32 and 64 Bit support for the x86 architecture.
    • A working Dom0 kernel on the LiveCD.
    • A rudimentary shell/falcon script for installation off the LiveCD. Warning: This will take over the whole HDD you are installing to! It is recommended you use a old HDD or a VM for this release.
    • Working support for; Ada, C, C++ from GCC GNAT-2008, Falcon, Lua, Perl and POSIX shell scripts.
    • Working X session with XDM login screen (with Nvidia and ATi drivers).
    • Stabilized package set we deliever as part of our 'Core System' distro.
    • Decide and document *exactly* what the Project Goals are and make them *very* clear.

Alpha Test Builds ( Milestone #1 )

You may share this one with your friends for wider testing.

  • What to expect ?
    • Each package/component has now been documented to assist in development of both the system understanding, our road map and any final changes to the package set that was stabilized in the Pre-Alpha releases.
    • SPARC LiveCD now kicking into life.
    • Awesome 3 Window Manager now delievered with out the box theme.
    • XDM now has a 'neat' theme out the box.
    • All parts of the Xorg constellation has now been documented in preparation for Hydra spec files to be written for each component.
    • Xorg 7.5 is now integrated by hand made AURA SVR4 packages.
    • Hydra spec file specification finalized.
    • Hydra spec file based concept builder now working to a level that can make SVR4 packages in an reliable fashion.
    • Temporary LiveCD spinning scripts documented to assist other community members to spin there own test ISO's.
    • A rudimentary shell/falcon script for system updates.

Alpha Release ( Milestone #2 )

  • That's that need to happen nearing the first Alpha Release:
    • Make an opensolaris.org mailing list announcement of the project.
    • Make an phoronix.com announcement of the project.
    • Use the above to start building developer community traction to assist in writting spec files for each component of the system, package and maintain that component.
